Avevo 16 anni quando visitando per la prima volta l'Inghilterra, mi trovai in maniera casuale ad assistere a un corteo matrimoniale.
E allora li vidi.
Cappelli.
Centinaia di cappelli.
Centinaia di elegantissime ladies inglesi che indossavano centinaia di altrettanto elegantissimi cappelli, un tripudio di colore e di classe.
E la sposa. Indossava anche lei un cappello.
In quel momento ebbi due pensieri fulminanti: il primo fu un incredibile e improvviso desiderio di essere invitata almeno una volta nella mia vita a un matrimonio inglese (giuro che se nessuno lo farà mai, prima o poi lo trovo il modo di imbucarmi a un matrimonio inglese), il secondo fu l'istantanea decisione che avrei indossato a mia volta un vistoso copricapo, quando sarebbe arrivato il mio momento. O almeno un'accessorio importante. Fu così che nel mio secondo viaggio a Londra (eh, la città del destino!) comprai una bombetta rossa a Camden Town che ammetto di amare decisamente tanto. E fu così che per la mia laurea, indossai un elegantissimo fermaglio di piume rosa che mi attirò più di uno sguardo (eh dai, mi laureavo in Design della Moda, direi che ero nella posizione di osare!). Insomma, il mio destino fu scritto e da allora non potei fare a meno di soccombere.
Ho selezionato una serie di cappelli da sposa che sono a dir poco ME-RA-VI-GLIO-SI. Velette, piume, calotte o ancora tese larghe e grandi fiori di tessuto, insomma ce n'è per tutti i gusti! L'unica cosa di cui c'è bisogno per indossarli è una sana dose di umorismo british!
La maggior parte di loro sono prodotti ovviamente in Inghilterra, dove la tradizione dei cappellai matti è sempre stata fortissima, ma molti possono essere acquistati anche online. E allora viva le spose con il cappello!
I was 16 when I found myself to attend a wedding procession in England.
And then I saw them.
Hats.
Hundreds of hats.
Hundreds of elegant English ladies who wore hundreds of elegant hats, a mix of colors and class.
And then, the bride. She also wore an hat.
In that moment I had two sudden thoughts: the first was an incredible and sudden desire to be the guest of an english wedding at least once in my life, the second one was the instant decision to wear an hat during the most important moments of my life. So it happened that during my second trip to London (yes, the city of destiny!) I bought a red little bowler hat in Camden Town which I assume to love very much. And also, during my graduation, I wore a pink feather clip which attracted me more than a glance (oh come on, I was a Fashion Design graduate, I would say that I could dare!).
I selected a variety of wedding hats that are AMAZING. There are veils, feathers, or even wide-brimmed felt hats and large fabric flowers! The only thing you need to wear them is a healthy dose of humor british!
Most of them are obviously produced in England, where the tradition of the mad hatters has always been very strong, but many of them can also be purchased online. So three cheers for brides with hats!
